So Much More Than Just Training

If the words “college” and “training” conjure up images of rigid courses, stretching over months or years, taking place away from your workplace in dreary classrooms, think again! City College Norwich provides a wide range of services to employers, providing a flexible approach that is built around your business needs.

Services for Businesses in Norfolk
The college offers a single point of contact for businesses in Norfolk with a dedicated team of Employer Partnership Consultants. These experienced training advisors offer a free training needs analysis service to business and advice on Government funded training initiatives that are available to you.

The services we offer are always tailored to meet the training needs of individual companies. Invent Health have chosen to use the college to develop their workforce and qualify their staff to meet the demanding requirements of clinical care. Norwich Housing Services have used City College Norwich to design a bespoke maintenance course to update the skills of their employees. Voluntary Norfolk are taking advantage of money available to support management in the third sector and are training all of their management team with City College Norwich. These are some of the many companies we are working in partnership with to support their training needs and business objectives.

Delivering Training in the workplace
The BusinessFirst team can advise on short courses offered in the college, from Health and Safety in the Workplace to The European Computer Driving Licence, to AUTOCAD. We will ensure that the training products and services we recommend add value to the business and work to measure the impact and return on investment that training can give.

We deliver a wide variety of short courses designed to meet the “just in time” training requirements of employers. These courses have been developed to cover a broad range of areas, from Food Hygiene to Introduction to Car Mechanics (for Ladies). For full details of all of the short courses on offer check the hub courses menu tab.

Developing your workforce
City College Norwich is currently working with a huge range of companies who are engaging with apprenticeship training. From recruitment to selection and delivering the training in the workplace this process supports the business and the employee as they engage with the process of training and development. We have experience of working with an immense diversity of employers, from dental surgeries training up their nurses, to business administrators working in financial services, to restaurants developing their own home grown talent, and construction firms providing innovative housing solutions – to name but a few. The range and quality of the apprenticeship training offered by the College is intended to help support Norfolk develop its workforce for the 21st Century.

City College Norwich Qualifications
City College Norwich was the first college in the country to gain Awarding Organisation Status, meaning that the college can work with employers to develop new qualifications that carry national recognition within the National Qualifications Framework. City College Norwich Qualifications has already developed and launched qualifications for the financial services sector (working with the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland to make its Chartered Banker qualification more widely available, and launching an Introduction to Financial Services course), with Norfolk Police (Diploma in Policing and Public Safety course for those seeking to enter the police) and in education (peer review and development qualifications for staff in further education).

New initiatives
There are some exciting new developments and initiatives which we are currently promoting including:

  • The Age 16 – 17 Apprenticeship Grant of £2,500 available for businesses who take on and employ new additional 16 or 17 year old Apprentices by 31st March 2010.
