Your Workforce Development Officer will be able to advise you regarding the funding available and any costs attached to the identified training needs. As with all Public Funding there are eligibility criteria to be met in order to access funding. These criteria relate to the size of the organisation and the individual member of staffs age and residential status in the UK.
Organisations with 5000+ full time equivalent employees will be able to get advice and solutions to training issues from the National Employer Service who specialise in training for large organisations http://nationalemployerservice.org.uk
For organisations with 4999 or less full time equivalent employees the college as your local Train to Gain provider can help.
Train to Gain funding is available for employees aged 19 or older who satisfy the residency criteria set out by the Learning Skills Council.
The funding is available for:
- All Level 2 qualifications (equivalent to 5 GSCEs) even if the employee already has a qualification at this level*
- The first Level 3 qualification (equivalent to 2 A levels) for employees aged 19 – 24
- Partial funding is available for Level 3 qualifications for employees aged 25 or older or for any employee that already has a qualification at this level*
- Skills for Life qualifications at Entry level through to Level 2
*Please note that there are restrictions on the qualifications that are available for those that already have qualifications at these levels. The Learning Skills Council issue lists of qualifications that have been approved for funding at intervals in response to information received from the Sector Skills Councils.
For organisations with less that 250 full time equivalent employees, there is additional funding to cover bite size chunks of training in business critical areas such as business improvement, team working, customer service and IT.
For organisations with between 5 and 250 full time equivalent employees there is also up to £1000 available for leadership and management training and development such as coaching and mentoring towards a qualification.
If you are a small organisation with less than 50 employees there is also a scheme to help cover the cost of wages for working time spent training. To access this you will need to liaise with a Train to Gain Skills Broker who is independent from the college and able to give impartial advice.
