A flexible syllabus, enabling training to be tailored to meet specific needs of employers & their employees. It gives participants the opportunity to build and develop more in depth hair dressing & design skills, covering modules such as basic cutting, colouring & perming, promotion of products, reception duties as well as learning the practical & underpinning knowledge required to work safely in a hair salon.

The course is designed for those who wish to develop a career in hair dressing. Applicants should be enthusiastic and willing to develop customer care skills. It is important to be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
Entry requirements:
No formal entry requirements, although working within a salon environment is essential in order for the participant to build their work-based portfolio as well as the ability to demonstrate an appropriate level of inter-personal skills as this is a customer focused industry.
Course Aims:
This route offers those wishing to pursue a career as a hair dresser/stylist, an opportunity to develop new and existing skills whilst gaining hands on experience within the workplace.
The programme is assessed by a range of methods which will include practical assessment, written and oral questions, project and assignment work. There is no upper age limit and the continuous assessment will allow a degree of flexibility for students with previous experience to progress more quickly.
